NeuroAffective Touch
I support clients in accessing the preverbal, emotional layers of experience that are often beyond the reach of language. NeuroAffective Touch® (NATouch™) is a body-focused therapeutic approach that acknowledges the foundational role of early physical and emotional experiences in shaping how we relate to ourselves and the world.
Drawing from somatic psychology, affective neuroscience and developmental theory, this modality uses safe, intentional touch and presence to gently contact and integrate unprocessed emotional material. It is especially helpful for people with early attachment wounds, developmental trauma or experiences that occurred before they had words to describe them.
Much like Somatic Experiencing®, NeuroAffective Touch supports nervous system regulation, but with a unique emphasis on healing through co-regulation and the body’s deep need for safe connection. When the nervous system has been shaped by a lack of nurturing or attuned physical presence, touch can become a powerful language of repair.
In this work, touch is never imposed. It is always consensual, trauma-informed and attuned to your boundaries. Sometimes the most profound healing comes not from doing, but from being met, in stillness, in presence, in safety.
You don’t need any prior experience with somatic therapy to benefit. This work is gentle, relational and rooted in respect for your unique pace and story. Together, we make space for what the body remembers and for what it’s ready to release.

FAQ: NeuroAffective Touch®
-
NeuroAffective Touch® is a somatic therapy that uses safe, attuned touch to support emotional healing, particularly from early developmental and attachment trauma. It works with the body’s memory, those deep, preverbal layers that traditional talk therapy may not fully access.
-
No. Touch is always optional, consensual and never required. Many clients benefit from simply exploring the possibility of touch at their own pace. We can do profound somatic work without any physical contact. You’re in control every step of the way.
-
Touch in this modality is slow, light, and highly attuned, not massage or manipulation. It may involve placing hands on areas like the upper back, arms or feet, always with your consent. The intention is to support nervous system regulation and emotional integration, not to fix or “do” anything to you.
-
Clients often report a sense of deep calm, groundedness or emotional release. You may also experience subtle shifts in awareness, sensation or mood. Because this work accesses layers of experience stored in the body, it’s not uncommon for memories or feelings to arise. We hold all of that together gently and with care.
-
Yes, absolutely. This work is deeply trauma-informed, attachment-sensitive and rooted in somatic safety. Your boundaries and comfort are prioritized at every moment. The pace and depth of the work are always guided by your body’s readiness.
-
Yes. You don’t need any prior experience with somatic or touch-based work. This modality is accessible, respectful and designed to meet you exactly where you are. We’ll take it slowly and collaboratively.
-
Because it involves physical contact, NeuroAffective Touch® sessions take place in person. However, the principles of somatic attunement and nervous system co-regulation are part of my online work as well. We can discuss what’s possible if you’re working remotely.
-
NeuroAffective Touch® is a therapeutic modality rooted in psychology, not physical manipulation. The goal isn’t to release muscle tension (although you may) but to support emotional integration and relational healing through safe, attuned touch within a therapeutic container.
